Sights Lookout tower

The Szulejmán (Suleiman) Lookout Tower provides a spectacular panorama to Kőszeg and its hills. It can be reached by a nice 10-15-minute walk from the city center.

According to the urban legend Suleiman I was watching the final battle during the siege of Kőszeg trusting his victory from this hill (called Sultan Peak today). Miklós Jurisics repelled the army even though his defenders were outnumbered by the Ottoman army planning to march to Vienna.

The lookout tower was built in 2012 to commemorate the 1532 battle and providing a magnificent view over the city and the Kőszeg Hills. This is a very popular scene to watch the sunset.
