The oldest hotel in Hungary has been hosting guests since 1579. The building where the hotel is situated is one of the oldest structures on the Fő (Main) Square. It is one of the main tourist destinations, known for its excellent restaurant and confectionery.

The first owner of the Arany Strucc Hotel (Golden Ostrich) was Christoph Herpius, but it was named after the innkeeper Strauss (Strucc). The Golden Ostrich has a German-Hungarian bilingual plaque on the front of the building commemorating the story. The building was built in Baroque style and is on the Fő (Main) Square of Kőszeg, thus allowing its guests to enjoy the atmosphere of the town.

The hotel provides single and double rooms (for 35 guests in total) and is recommended for solo travellers, families or couples.

The restaurant serves buffet breakfast and both Hungarian and international meals. The neatly furnished confectionery shop provides a wide selection of cakes and pastries including the famous so-called Kőszeg Szelet (Kőszeg Slice).
